In the first instance, there isn't a path. There comes the walk, and then the path. In the latter example, it is an abandoned path, no longer used and therefore not a path anymore! Either way, the phrase still is redundant and a contradiction in terms.
What about if you make the path by walking, like Paulo Freire?
