Don Bosco

Here are some of the resources on Don Bosco and his rich legacy, carried forward by the Salesians of Don Bosco

Perhaps the best resource that I've come across on Don Bosco and his educative system (popularly known as the Preventive System) is the Don Bosco's Way created by Fr Peter Gonsalves sdb. In his own words:  "This website is dedicated to Don Bosco's method of education interpreted for teachers, parents and youth leaders of all faiths.  It is written chiefly for a South Asian audience and contains English resources for further information and study."

It contains a rich mine of text resources, audiovisuals, cartoons and teaching resource material (download pdf or follow online). Best of all it is all for free and available for downloading for anyone keen on being an inspiring educator.  Of course, goes without saying that the site itself is an excellent demonstration of how one can build meaningful websites online using google!

------------------------------------

This one is directly from the official international website of the Salesians of Don Bosco: the Salesian Digital Library, the SDL (I guess it is named by Fr Julian Fox sdb and why not... after all, I'm sure he has been the mastermind behind it!). Besides all the official documents concerning the congregation, the 'library' contains letters of the Rector Majors, (this link is only for the English section). One can also check out the Salesian resources in other languages from the main menu here. The sorting out of the available material as per different formats, titles, authors, subjects and dates makes the search easier.

The main site of the SDBs too has a decent resource section on Don Bosco and the Salesian apostolate.

Very often we get stumped for lack of good interesting photos or pictures of persons, places and events we wish to use in our animation programmes.  Here is a very good and plentiful collection of pictures related to Don Bosco, uploaded by dobosafa (I really don't know who it is). There is the collection of the original photos of Don Bosco (anyone wanting to see the 'real' Don Bosco, ought to look here). Then there is the whole life of Don Bosco replete with paintings and still shots from the movie Don Bosco and a couple of glass paintings (456 photos). Then there is the whole collection (rather a large collage) of the portraits of Don Bosco, early Salesians, Salesian saints, Mamma Margaret, emblems, logos and creative depictions of Don Bosco and related Salesian contexts (653 in all). The section on the sketches of Don Bosco, plain black and white depictions of Don Bosco and related issues, too is quite plentiful. Then there are separate albums of Mother Mary, Dominic Savio and Mary Mazzarello and the FMAs.
