A Prayer

A good way to begin the new year... found the following prayer on a bookmark in my breviary this morning

My dear Lord

teach me to be generous.

Teach me 

to serve Thee as Thou deservest.

To give - 

and not to count the cost.

To fight - 

and not to heed the wounds.

To toil - 

and not to crave for rest.

To labour - 

and not to seek reward,

save that of knowing that I do Thy will.
